Oxford-based vaccines developing company PowderJect Pharmaceuticals announced on Thursday it was granted in association with the University of Pittsburgh $1 million by the US government to support the development of a powdered DNA vaccine against HIV.PowderJect has a portfolio of products that includes vaccines for influenza, yellow fever, travel diarrehea, cholera, tuberculosis, polio, tetanus and hepatitis B. Its technology focuses on treatment via a powder injection.
Boosted by the news, PowderJect’s shares, listed on London's techMARK 100, jumped 22.5 pence (5.5%) to 427.5 pence Thursday afternoon.
