Yahoo to “Pay” People to Use Its Search Engine

14 February 2006 8:44
By Frances Mann-Craik

February 13, 2006, Silicon Valley, CA - One of the brightest Valley software developers I know told me years ago that eventually companies would pay people to use their Internet sites. The era of on-line advertising has turned that prediction into near reality. Yahoo has been losing market share to the always-innovating Google at an alarming rate. The fix? "Yahoo is considering launching a program to reward people who make Yahoo their primary search engine," the company explained. While the rewards mentioned are not yet cash rewards, rather frequent flyer miles, MP3 downloads and the like, can cash be far behind?
