By Frances Mann-Craik

May 22, 2007 – Silicon Valley - Songs for All MP3 Devices – Amazon, the gorilla of online retail, is set to open a music store later this year featuring MP3 format songs without copy protection. The 12,000 labels can be played on a range of devices including iPods, Microsoft's Zune players and personal computers. Price per download has not been announced. Should Apple worry about the affect on iTunes? With this kind of competition, the consumer wins.
