Telormedix, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company from Switzerland focused on targeted immunity in the treatment of cancer and other diseases, has appointed Johanna Holldack as its new chief executive officer.Holldack’s previously role was CEO of Borean Pharma. Her posts before that include chief operations officer at MediGene, VP of Global Vaccines and Therapeutics at Chiron Corp. and Head of Clinical Research and Development at German Behringwerke. Holldack earned her medical degree from the Georg-August-University in Göttingen, Germany and is a board certified paediatrician. She spent over a decade as a research associate and assistant professor in paediatrics and paediatric oncology and haematology at the universities of Essen and Freiburg. In addition, she has held positions as a research fellow at the Deutsche Krebshilfe and a research associate at Harvard Medical School in the US.
Telormedix is founded in 2008 and focuses on targeted immunity in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. Its lead product, TMX-101, is entering the clinic for the localized treatment of bladder cancer. It is a new formulation of a clinically active small molecule compound specifically optimized for treating bladder cancer. Telormedix also has an additional pipeline of product candidates targeting cancer and autoimmune diseases.
Telormedix was cofounded by among others Rolf Zinkernagel, a Nobel Prize laureate and former director of the Institute of Experimental Immunology of the University of Zurich; Dennis Carson, a director of Moores Cancer Center at UCSD; and Lorenzo Leoni who also served as the company’s CEO before stepping down recently. Telormedix received a €13.2 million round of funding from an investor syndicate including Aravis Venture, Proquest Investments, BSI, Nextech Venture and Generali Insurance Group.
