Catalan medical diagnostics company STAT-Diagnostica gets €17 million

STAT-Diagnostica has closed a Series B financing round of €17 million led by new investor Kurma Life Sciences Partners. Other new investors in the round were Idinvest, Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund and Caixa Capital Risc. Existing shareholders Ysios Capital and Axis also participated in this latest round. The proceeds will be used to complete development of the company’s near patient testing (NPT) diagnostic system and clinical validation of its first products. Grant Thornton acted as financial advisor for the new investors and Cuatrecasas as legal advisor. Rousaud Costas Duran acted as legal advisor for the company.

Founded in 2010 in Barcelona, STAT-Diagnostica is focused on the development of NPT solutions for fast and accurate diagnosis of certain medical conditions. Its in-vitro diagnostic system consolidates molecular and immunoassay techniques in a single device and offers multi-analyte and multi-sample capabilities and also provides results in less than 30 minutes. The first clinical applications will be directed at infectious disease detection, antibiotic resistance determination and detection of biomarkers in critically ill patients.
