Shopgate receives funding for its mobile commerce platform

German mobile commerce platform provider Shopgate has secured a new round of funding from new shareholder Northcap Partners and its existing backer Creathor Venture. The deal sum remained undisclosed although it was announced to be a “7 digit dollar amount”. The company will use the funds for further international expansion, technology development, and to enter into strategic partnerships and grow its team.

Shopgate lets online merchants create their own mobile store including mobile websites and native apps for iOS and Android. The company was founded in 2009 and launched its service in 2011. Since then the company has grown to 80 employees and has opened offices in Germany, Switzerland, Poland and most recently the US. Shopgate currently serves more than 5,000 merchant.
