DelfMEMS, a French a developer of MEMS switching solutions for applications in the RadioFrequency (RF) communication field, has secured €5.4 million in a Series C round of funding. bpifrance Investissement, Iris Capital, Capitalaria, VIVES as well as previous investors (A2D Invest, Finovam, Rhône-Alpes-Création, Eurekap!, Helea Financiere and business angels) have participated. The new investment will be used to support the company's growth in and marketing of wireless front-end modules for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets that need multi-standard, multi-mode mobile telephony.
The move to multiple wireless standards to meet the requirement of always on data access creates the need for high speed RF switching. DelfMEMS’ solutions enable increased RF hardware integration and improved RF performance over conventional switching. The switch is an anchorless and push-pull mechanical device that is deflected by electrostatic forces to switch RF signals based on the principle of current electro-mechanical relays/switches. Features include low insertion loss, and outstanding isolation and linearity. The company boasts benefits such as better call quality, improved data rate, reduced costs, and lower power consumption.
