StubHub Hits 5 Millionth Ticket Sale and Exit Jackpot

16 January 2007 8:14
By Frances Mann-Craik

January 15, 2007, Silicon Valley - StubHub has achieved the Valley dream - entrepreneurial success and a robust exit, via a buyout by eBay for US$ 310 million in cash. StubHub, “Where fans buy and sell tickets,” is recognized as the leading online marketplace for the resale of event tickets. The acquisition brings eBay both a significant revenue stream, with more than $400 million in gross ticket sales last year and, perhaps more importantly, recognized brand leadership in this market. StubHub was co-founded in March 2000 by CEO Jeff Fluhr who was recently honored by the Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal's prestigious "Forty Under 40" list and by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the 24 Best and Brightest young entrepreneurs in America. Fluhr has grown the company to 300 employees with whom, one hopes, he will share the exit success.
