picoChip has strengthened its advisory board with the appointment of Professor Wenbo Wang, Professor and Dean of School of Telecommunication Engineering at the Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications (BUPT). One of the world’s leading authorities in the field of digital signal processing and wireless communications, Wang joins existing members of the board Professor Simon Saunders and Professor David May.Wang’s expertise and reputation in wireless communications is a complement to Saunders’ knowledge of indoor propagation (WiFi and femtocell), and May’s standing in the field of computer architectures and multi-core processing. He currently leads BUPT’s award-winning Wireless Signal Processing & Network Lab (WSPN), has authored, co-authored or edited four books, and published over 200 papers.
In addition to his role at BUPT, Wang is a member of the standing committee of Beijing Institute of Communication, and spent a period in the US working in a commercial R&D role. His current research interests include 3G, B3G and WiMAX radio transmission technology, wireless network theory, digital signal processing and software radio technology
picoChip, located in the UK, is specializes in flexible wireless solutions to help equipment makers minimize time-to-market, costs, and system power consumption. The heart of the company’s offering is a scaleable, multi-processor baseband IC that combines the computational density of a dedicated ASIC with the programmability of a traditional high end Digital Signal Processor.
