MobileAware announces new funds and CEO
MobileAware, an Irish provider of mobile service infrastructure and self-service solutions, has announced that it secured an additional round of funding led by current investors Nauta Capital and Cross Atlantic Capital Partners back in March of this year. In the same release, the company also announced that Todd Shingler took over as CEO at the time of the March round. Former CEO Kevin McKloskey as well as Dominic Endicott of Nauta Capital and Paul Sutton of Cross Atlantic Capital have joined MobileAware’s board of directors. The deal size has not been disclosed, but according to Shingler the amount was “more than a couple of million and less than ten.” The capital has been (and will be) used for the further expansion of its offering and will take MobileAware to profitability. Shingler does not expect another future investment in the business.
Nine-year-old MobileAware delivers mobile customer and employee self-service solutions to customers particularly in the telecommunications, travel, transportation, utility and emergency services industries. These solutions include mobile workforce applications for clients such as Bell South, Pepsi Bottling and TNT Express, a mobile customer self-service solution for French national railway company, SNCF, and a mobile media information service for Italian financial news publisher Il Sole 24 Ore.
The company’s mobile service infrastructure allows for a strategic approach for creating and managing mobile data solutions across all lines of business. It combines client and server technologies, and integrates with existing enterprise service infrastructure and resources that need mobilizing. MobileAware also make issues around disparate data, device diversity and network convergence transparent to both the business and the end-user. The deployments of the company’s infrastructure range from a content download platform for Australia’s telco Telstra, a mobile portal service in GSM operator China Mobile, and a mobile workforce solution in Ireland’s mobile operator O2.
Shingler joined MobileAware in March 2003 as vice president of products in Dublin and then set of to the US to lead the company’s sales and business development there. Prior to joining MobileAware, he spent 12 years in various roles within Nortel Networks’ wireless organization in the US, Germany and France.
