Rightware spins-out of Futuremark and gets €3 million in funds
Rightware, a Finnish user interface technology startup has closed a €3 million venture capital investment. The round was co-led by Inventure and Nexit Ventures.
The company has recently spun-off of Futuremark, a Finland-based producer of 3D graphics benchmarking software, UI solutions, and graphics intensive online games. As part of the deal, Rightware acquires Futuremark’s mobile and embedded business unit. All of the firm’s mobile and embedded IPRs, assets and liabilities are transferred to Rightware. The core team of Rightware is comprised of Futuremark’s mobile and embedded team. The new company will continue serving all existing customers for the acquired products, including Audi, China Mobile, Texas Instruments and Imagination Technologies. Meanwhile, Futuremark will fully focus on its game development and PC benchmarks businesses.
Rightware will use the proceeds of its funding success to accelerate development and marketing of the Kanzi user interface solution for mobile phones and embedded applications as well as device performance measurement products and services for mobile and embedded industries. Kanzi enables manufacturers of mobile phones, and automotive display and infotainment systems to create rich and intuitive user interfaces.
Rightware will also continue the development of Futuremark’s system performance analysis tools. The company’s product portfolio includes 3DMark Mobile for OpenGL ES 1.x and OpenGL ES 2.0, VGMark for OpenVG 1.x, and SPMark platform benchmark for Symbian, Android, Windows Mobile, Linux and mobile Java. In addition to its Finnish headquarters, Rightware also holds a footprint in Shanghai.
