James Thomas of ICON Corporate Finance to speak at CleanTech Question Time

James Thomas, Investment Director at ICON Corporate Finance will share his insights on funding CleanTech companies at a CleanTech Question Time in Bristol on October 9th organized by The Corporate Finance Network.

James who specializes in raising both venture capital and selling technology companies joins a panel which includes the CEOs of CleanTech companies Deepsteam Technologies and Inetec as well as VC investors from The Environmental Technologies Fund and Foresight Group.

James who has advised Deepstream, Inetec, Atreverda and ATS, all companies that featured in the Guardian’s Top 100 CleanTech companies for 2008, will be advising European entrepreneurs on what they should do to ensure they are fit for funding.

Commenting on the event, James said: “I am delighted to have been asked to join the panel of CleanTech experts. Investments in US Cleantech grew by 41% from $683.5 million in Q1 2008 to $961.7 million in Q2 2008, and the sector now represents a major investment opportunity for European VCs particularly in the context of rising fuel costs and Kyoto, it’s a growth sector where both entrepreneurs and investors have a real opportunity for returns.”

The panel will also discuss what investors look for when assessing investment potential and where the VC money will go in 2009 - renewables, energy, electricity generation, power saving, waste, emisssions, supporting technologies or other areas.

The event organized by the Corporate Finance Network will be held at Burges Salmon’s offices in Bristol. To register for a free ticket, CEOs should contact
