Plastic Logic named as one of the top ten companies most likely to transform our world
Plastic Logic is a three-time Tornado100 Winner (2001-2003)

Cambridge, UK – 18 August, 2005 – Plastic Logic, a leading developer of plastic electronics technology, announced today that the Harvard Business School Alumni Club of London had named it as one of the top ten companies most likely to change our world in the next five years.

This year’s annual Harvard Business School Global Leadership Forum was held in London and brought together almost 1,000 Alumni, faculty and business and government leaders to explore business issues of global leadership. The program included a Symposium for delegates run by Alumni involved in investing from across Europe entitled 2010: European Companies and Technologies Reshaping our World in the Next 5 Years. Speakers at the Symposium included Clay Christensen and Bill Sahlman from the Harvard faculty, as well as leading technology media and venture capitalists.

Plastic Logic’s team includes two graduates from the Harvard Business School – CEO Stuart Evans (MBA’73); and one of the company’s lead investors – Simon Waddington (MBA’96) of PolyTechnos Venture Partners in Munich, Germany. Commented Stuart Evans, “Businesses and governments all over the world recognize that plastic electronics is going to be an important new industry, so we are delighted to be recognized in this way. Its now time for plastic electronics to move from research & invention to customers & products – the race is on. Plastic Logic aims to move from start-up to one of the great high tech companies of the 21st Century.”

Library House – one of the sponsors of this year’s forum – has also included a profile of the company in its new report 2010: European Companies and Technologies that Will Change Our World. The report can be downloaded from www.libraryhouse.net. According to Library House Director Charles Cotton, “The companies in the report emerged over the past 5 months from an assessment process driven by a panel of leading journalists and European investors. The list of several hundred companies was whittled down to 100, then 25 and Plastic Logic was judged to be in the top 10.”

About Plastic Logic
Plastic Logic is a leading developer of plastic electronics – a revolutionary new technology for manufacturing (or printing) electronics. The Plastic Logic approach solves the critical issues in manufacturing low cost, large area, high resolution transistor arrays on flexible plastic substrates by using a low temperature process without mask alignment.

Plastic Logic operates from the world’s first plastic electronics min-fab and prototype line on the Cambridge Science Park. It was spun out of Cambridge University in 2000 to build on 10 years research and now has a team of 48 employees. The company has secured $30Mn from financial and industrial investors, including Siemens, Dow Chemical, Mitsubishi, CDT and Seiko Epson. www.plasticlogic.com or contact press@plasticlogic.com
