GMTV Signs Music Deal With Ricall
Network to source commercial music from digital search and licensing engine

20 September 2006 -- GMTV, Britain’s biggest breakfast station today announced an agreement with Ricall, the music search and licensing marketplace, that will see GMTV’s programmes, including Entertainment Today and LK Today, researching and sourcing commercial music using the company’s innovative web based service (

Ricall operates a state-of-the-art music search engine, which accesses a growing commercial music catalogue currently comprising 2.5 million tracks, including every UK Top 40 hit since charts began in 1952, alongside a vast collection of jazz, classical, blues, soundtrack and other non-chart tracks

Supplying commercial music for GMTV will now be sourced and downloaded using Ricall’s service, making GMTV, after Five, the second major UK broadcaster to adopt a fully managed digital music facility for in-house staff.

Cathy Cooper, GMTV’s music manager, said: “Working with Ricall makes searching and finding music for our producers easier. We trialled the system over the summer. It is extremely cost effective and we were impressed with the way it works – it makes the whole process of finding the right music track very simple, saving us time and money.”

Richard Corbett, founder and chief executive officer of Ricall, added: “We are thrilled to be working with GMTV and this deal demonstrates further just how serious TV companies are about using a digital music solution for their day to day needs. Ricall are expertly placed to offer such a solution.
