Netadmin of Sweden plans advance into Europe
Offers a management system for broadband

2006 09 20 -- The Nordic venture capital fund Eqvitec Technology Fund III has agreed to invest SEK 44 million in the Linköping-based software company Netadmin. Netadmin has developed a system that gives network proprietors and broadband operators full supervision and control of all connected equipment, right out to the end-user.

Interest in Netadmin’s systems in the Nordic region is extremely strong and the company has grown by some 50 per cent in the past six months. The new capital will now enable it to embark on international expansion.

Netadmin has operated since 2004 and already has a 30 per cent market share in Sweden. The company has some 40 installations at operators and major city networks. TeliaSonera is one of its customers. The next target for expansion is Europe, concentrating primarily on Britain and Germany. The workforce is expected to grow by 50 percent over the next six months.

Concurrently with the investment Netadmin’s Board is strengthened of in advance of the internationalisation. Ivar Strömberg, founder of Song Networks, is to become Chairman, and Einar Lindquist of Eqvitec Partners, formerly Deputy CEO of Ericsson and right-hand man to Kurt Hellström, also joins the Board.

Explaining the potential in Netadmin, Einar Lindquist says : “Netadmin fills a very large gap in the broadband and similar markets. Netadmin is the only software provider to offer network proprietors and operators a standardised and neutral solution that manages all aspects of operation, irrespective of what equipment is connected. The company’s unparalleled growth in the Nordic region demonstrates its potential.”

An open system
“Netadmin is a neutral and independent partner, and our customers get continuous access to all changes and improvements made to the software – even changes that are made during the development phase or are customer-specific,” says Tor Borrhed, CEO and founder of Netadmin. “Our set-up is rather like the open source-code that Linux has. It guarantees that our customers always have the latest technology in their systems.”

The heart of Netadmin’s approach is the ability to keep track of all necessary information from the nodes and sources making up an existing network. For the first time this enables network proprietors or operators to use a single program to manage all the different aspects of a broadband network’s operation. These range from the commissioning of new components and automatic configuration of the network to maintenance, supervision and customer administration. This saves network proprietors a lot of time and money while providing a better service to end-users. The software also allows open city networks to offer their customers services from many different operators – so increasing competition between operators and lowering prices for the end-user.
