Polaris Private Equity names new partners

September 25, 2006 -- Aiming to strengthen the investment capacity and competitive position of Polaris in the Nordic private equity market, the management of Polaris has appointed new partners. Polaris is pleased to announce the following new recruitments and appointments.

Jan Johan Kühl will join Polaris Private Equity in the first quarter of 2007 as new managing partner and as managing director of the management company. Mr Kühl will be leaving a position as group director of Icopal (www.icopal.com), where for the past six years he has been in charge of a number of corporate functions, not least company acquisitions that enabled Icopal to expand into new business areas and markets.

Mr Kühl’s appointment is the first step in a process of generational change at Polaris. Viggo Nedergaard Jensen, 58, the founding partner of Polaris in 1998, will retain his position as managing partner together with Mr Kühl until the end of 2007, at which time Mr Kühl will take over the management of the partnership and Mr Jensen will step down to become an ordinary partner. In this way Polaris expects to make a valuable improvement to the investment team’s capacity, which – combined with the company’s good performance – will promote the continuing expansion in investor attention that Polaris enjoys.

Mr Kühl is 40 years old and holds a MSc in Business Economics and an HD Graduate Diploma. He began his career as an equity analyst with Gudme Raaschou Investment Bank in 1989. In 1993, Mr Kühl joined the consulting company Aarsø Nielsen & Partners (currently AT Kearney) as project manager, and he was a consultant on several M&A projects over the following two years. In 1995, the consultancy business brought him to Monarflex, then a family-owned company in transition to private equity ownership. Mr Kühl became the company’s managing director at a young age before becoming involved in the sale of the company to Icopal, where he continued as group director.

Mr Kühl has solid international management experience as well as the industry skills that are becoming increasingly crucial for success of a private equity fund. In this capacity he will complement the private equity experience and the strong financial skills the Polaris team already possesses.

Jan Dahlqvist will join Polaris Private Equity on 1 November 2006 as partner with special responsibility for developing Polaris’s investment activities in southern Sweden. He comes from a position as partner in charge of the Danish operations of the CapMan private equity fund, a company he has been employed with since 2002.

Mr Dahlqvist is 42 years old, a Swedish national and lives in Höllviken south of Malmoe, Sweden. He received his MSc in Economics from the University of Lund in 1990. After his university studies, he worked as an analyst with Alfred Berg Fondkommission. In 1992–1997, he was a management consultant focusing on mid-sized businesses in southern Sweden. In several cases, Mr Dahlqvist also took over the interim management of such businesses. Next, Mr Dahlqvist was employed with the Sjätte AP-fonden, initially in Gothenburg and later as head of its regional office for southern Sweden in Malmoe from 1999–2002, where he was in charge of building a portfolio of mid-sized investment companies in southern Sweden.

In other words, Mr Dahlqvist has nine years of private equity experience acquired in both Denmark and southern Sweden, the core region of Polaris Private Equity II.

Peter Ankerst has been named partner of Polaris Private Equity effective 1 October 2006. He has been a senior advisor with Polaris since 2004, working to develop investment opportunities in Sweden. Polaris made its first two investments in Sweden in 2005; the appointment reflects the greater strategic priority Polaris accorded to Sweden when setting up Fund II.

Mr Ankerst is 40 years old and a Swedish national living in Helsingborg, Sweden. He graduated from the Göteborg University Business School in<
