OutSystems takes composite applications a step forward with the release of OutSystems Platform 4.0
OutSystems Platform 4.0 offers greater technology independence and lower cost of ownership for compo

Redwood City - CA, September 26, 2006 – OutSystems Inc. today announced the official release of the OutSystems Platform 4.0, which sets a new standard of productivity, flexibility and openness for rapid composition and cost effective maintenance of enterprise web-based applications.

The new OutSystems Platform 4.0, offers companies and software vendors the ability to rapidly create their composite applications regardless of the target technology and then decide whether to deploy them on Microsoft .NET or Java EE. OutSystems also ensures that the target business services and applications are deployed without resorting to proprietary runtime engines or interpreters. Taking these steps, OutSystems promotes adherence to open standards and combines it with the productivity offered by a full life-cycle application platform, avoiding technology dependency and lock-in.

OutSystems customers and partners are already experiencing new responsiveness and agility levels taking full advantage of the platform’s new productivity features. In particular, a new Visual Debugger closes the gap between high-level business modeling and application execution. A broader set of built-in web application patterns has also been included to further accelerate the creation of richer enterprise applications.

OutSystems Platform 4.0 considerably reduces operation costs providing the ability to quickly pack, redistribute and redeploy very large enterprise applications, and simplifying their versioning, configuration and migration. Business services, integration components and composite applications can be easily packed and moved from staging environments to distributed production environments with a single click and virtually no downtime. In particular, this process offers full support for Independent Software Vendors to easily distribute packaged applications among multiple customers.

“As we move forward, we continue to invest in delivering unprecedented levels of agility for creating, maintaining and operating composite enterprise applications”, said Carlos Alves, Vice-President Engineering, OutSystems. “Such levels of productivity can only be achieved through the consistent use of tools that cover all aspects of application composition and maintenance: from front-end design, to business service assembly, team collaboration or debugging. At the same time, with dual stack support, we’ve taken a significant step towards technology independence.”
