ADC partners with ip.access to deliver innovative mobile telephony to isolated communities
OEM Agreement Makes IP Radio Access Network (RAN) Solution a Reality

March 29, 2007 – ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT;, and ip.access, the market leader in cellular picocell technologies, today announced that ADC has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with ip.access Ltd. to deliver an innovative mobile telephony solution for rural/isolated communities, as well as problematic enterprise and macro coverage areas. ADC will be demonstrating this solution at CTIA Wireless 2007 (Booth #4079) in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29.

Under the terms of the agreement, ADC’s new FlexWave™ Base Station System (BSS) will integrate ip.access’ nanoGSM® technology into a self-contained, outdoor hardened, micro GSM base station solution. The FlexWave system delivers standard GSM/EDGE service, but uses IP for backhaul. This provides a simple and cost-effective enterprise and outdoor solution for rural communities, hotspots and hole-fill in the U.S., Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

The FlexWave BSS, part of ADC’s All-IP Radio Access Network (RAN) solution, allows wireless operators to meet the growing coverage and capacity demands of advanced wireless services, while at the same time containing costs through flexible IP backhaul. Indoor and outdoor base stations are controlled through a common base station controller and a common network management system. By deploying the FlexWave BSS over an IP network, wireless operators may realize significant OPEX savings, and also protect their investment as the network evolves to a complete end-to-end IP architecture.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with ip.access and expand our FlexWave portfolio to enhance mobile coverage in hard-to-reach global communities,” said Hilton Nicholson, president of the Active Infrastructure Business Unit at ADC. “Moreover, this technology offers us new market opportunities such as multi-tenant residential and enterprise applications, as well as outdoor ‘hole-fill’ or ‘hot-spot’ coverage.”

“We are very pleased to announce the integration of our picocells into the new ADC FlexWave technology which will open up additional markets for us,” said Stephen Mallinson, CEO for ip.access. “The market for innovative telecommunications products that facilitate network expansion and customer retention is huge and our products are increasingly central to that market.”
