Pronota strengthens commercial team with appointment of Business Development Director

Ghent, Belgium, 18 June 2007. Pronota nv, the Belgium-based predictive biomarker company, has announced the appointment of Dr Huw Davies as Business Development Director, with immediate effect. This is a new position created within Pronota and reflects the Company's commercial focus as it brings its protein biomarker discovery services to the market.

With more than a decade of commercial experience in the Life Sciences sector, Dr Davies comes to Pronota from Ciphergen Biosystems in Guildford, UK, where he was Program Manager for the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands. Dr Davies was also Manager of the European Biomarker Discovery Centre, liaising with pharmaceutical clients and clinical collaborators and leading to the development and characterisation of novel biomarkers. Dr Davies holds a PhD from the John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK, and a first class degree in biological sciences.

Commenting on the new appointment, Nick McCooke, chief executive officer of Pronota, said: 'I am extremely pleased to welcome Huw to the Pronota team. Huw brings considerable experience in business development and the commercialisation of biomarker discovery platforms in the life science sector. He also has experience in managing biomarker discovery programs and this expertise will be of value as Pronota continues to move forward with developing its own protein-based diagnostic and pharmacodiagnostic products'.

Dr Davies commented: 'I am very pleased to join the Pronota team. I have been very impressed with the capabilities of Pronota's technology, particularly its ability to reproducibly identify and measure biomarkers of low abundance in blood. This will be of immense value in the discovery of biomarkers both in a service offering to pharma and in the company's own programs for developing diagnostics and pharmacodiagnostics'.

About Pronota nv

Pronota (formerly known as Peakadilly) is using its unique capabilities in exploring the proteomes of biological samples to build a portfolio of diagnostic products that work by analysing protein biomarkers in body fluids, typically blood. Some of these products will be designed to help detect disease at its early and most treatable stage, and others to determine the best treatment for individual patients.

Pronota's core technology, MASStermind(tm), enables the comprehensive and rapid analysis of proteomes, allowing thousands of proteins to be identified per biological sample. With its unparalleled information content, Pronota's proprietary technology platform dramatically improves the speed and success rate of protein biomarker discovery.

Pronota is also using this technology to support pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies in a wide range of contract R&D projects ranging from drug discovery through to development of pharmacodiagnostics. To date, the company has conducted projects in the areas of infectious disease, oncology and inflammation.
