Fiona Strens appointed to Synergis board of directors
Synergis Technologies Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Fiona Strens as a director to the Synergis Board.
Synergis Technologies was established in 2004 to help address the gap in seed and early stage technology funding, primarily originating from the UK’s public sector research agencies and research led universities. The company specialises in ‘disruptive innovation’; these are emerging technologies with the potential to create new products, new markets, new needs or new solutions. Fiona brings to Synergis several years of in-depth experience gained in the defence and security sector. After completing a degree in Computer Sciences at Cambridge University, Fiona joined the Ministry of Defence and spent 11 years there focusing on policy and technology. Fiona has most recently been working as a consultant to Government and Industry in the defence and security sector. 2007 has been an extremely progressive year for Synergis; its continued growth internally as well as the addition of five new companies to its investment portfolio, now means there is a genuine need for a defence and security specialist of Fiona’s calibre as the company seeks to greater enhance and extend its already strong ties in this area. Fiona Strens commented on her appointment: ‘I am increasingly convinced that more intimate cooperation between the investment community and Government has the potential to deliver mutual value. But effective joint working is not easy. The business models, pace of business and priorities of Government are very different from those of investors. I hope to bring to Synergis Technologies an understanding of the Government environment that helps us find pragmatic and mutually-rewarding ways through this.’ Shimi Shah, CEO of Synergis Technologies said: ‘Fiona’s appointment represents the continued growth and strengthening of our leadership team, as well as bringing experience within the defence and security sectors which are key commercialisation areas for Synergis. We very much look forward to having Fiona as part of our team.’ - Ends - For further information on Synergis Technologies Ltd. and all other media enquiries, please contact: Shimi Shah, CEO or Elizabeth Martens, PR Manager Tel: +44 (0) 207 932 0727 Email: pr@synergistechnologies.com www.synergistechnologies.com NOTES TO EDITORS Synergis Technologies Ltd. is as an investment vehicle providing seed and early stage funds to help turn innovative research from universities and leading Public Sector Research Establishments (PSRE's) into significant commercial value.
