TPACK joins Carrier Ethernet interoperability initiatives TPACK joins Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem and EANTC Interoperability Showcase at CEWC 2007
TPACK today announced its participation in two key Carrier Ethernet interoperability initiatives. TPACK has joined the Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem initiated by Nortel and is participating in the EANTC Carrier Ethernet showcase at Carrier Ethernet World Congress, currently underway in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem is focused on joint interoperability testing and marketing of Carrier Ethernet technologies including Provider Backbone Transport (PBT) and includes several software and hardware vendors. The group intends to continue working on PBT interoperability while supporting its progress through the IEEE where it is known as Provider Backbone Bridges (PBB-TE). “The Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem is an important initiative for furthering the adoption of Carrier Ethernet both as a service and transport technology. By ensuring and demonstrating interoperability between various vendors, service providers can be assured that reliable deployment of PBT is achievable today. TPACK was one of the early implementers of PBT and their experience and expertise will be a welcome addition to the ecosystem”, said Mike Adams, Vice President of Strategy and Architecture for Nortel's Metro Ethernet Networks. Both TPACK and Nortel will be participating in the EANTC Carrier Ethernet showcase at IIR’s Carrier Ethernet World Congress. The showcase demonstrates PBT, T-MPLS and MPLS interoperability as well as establishment of MEF defined Carrier Ethernet Services across all three domains. TPACK successfully participated in PBT interoperability tests as well as T-MPLS interoperability tests. The TPACK SMARTPACK PBT and T-MPLS ATCA based Reference System (Longmorn) was used in both test configurations. Longmorn is an evaluation system based on TPACK’s TPX3100 Carrier Packet Engine, which is one of the first multi-protocol devices on the market to provide simultaneous support for PBT and T-MPLS, as well as MPLS, VPLS, PWE3 and IEEE 802.1ad VLAN/MAC switching. A 20-page white paper with detailed findings is available for download from http://www.eantc.com/cewc2007. About TPACK TPACK provides FPGA-based solutions with integrated software that enable telecom equipment providers to rapidly develop Carrier Ethernet switching and transport systems. This includes Ethernet/MPLS over SONET/SDH, PDH and OTN, as well as VPLS, PBT and T-MPLS. TPACK solutions can be adapted to meet customer specific needs without sacrificing time-to-market. TPACK's customer base includes Tier 1 equipment providers who account for more than 60% of the optical transport equipment market. TPACK is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark.
