Last week’s investment boom continues. 18 European and Israeli companies have raised a total of €123.2 million with 5 of the firms not disclosing the amounts of their investments.
Making a large contribution to the €123.2 million is the €50 million second-round funding of Novexel, a French specialty pharmaceutical company focusing on the development of antibacterials and anti-fungals. It is the third investment so far in 2007 at or above the €49 million mark. Semiconductor company Plastic Logic leads the pack by its €76.4 million round, and right after Novexel comes another biopharmaceuticals deal: the €49 million injection into Belgium-based Movetis.
With the exception of the €24.2 million investment in Frontier Silicon, all other disclosed investments this week are below €10.6 million. The 18 deals are spread over 8 countries with the UK the big winner with 8 investments. Germany follows with 4 and 6 countries have 1 deal each.
